About Us
History
Karan Guza the founder of Cottonwood Stables had five kids which all help at the facility. Growing up Karan had horse and had such a passion for it she wanted her kids to experience the same. She started Kelsie, Darian, Sommer and Rayne with showing at their local fairgrounds and 4-h shows, then each of their passions grew from there! Now, Kelsie shows the Appaloosa circuit, and Darian shows the MSU shows and attends the appaloosa shows also but focuses on Western, ranch classes, trail riding and helping people with their horses.
Darians Experiences
As soon as Darian could walk, she was on a horse! at the age of 5, her parents got her a old quarter horse which started her obsession of horses. At 11 her mom put together enough money to get her something younger for her to start on, which let her to getting a young two-year-old gelding. Darian and this gelding grew and learned together under a few amazing trainers studying natural horsemanship. This Started her passion for training and her family supported as time continued.
In 2019 Darian attended Delta Community College and graduated with a Business Administration degree while working at Huron Medical Care facility. Currently Darian works at WWWilliams and enjoys working horses and caring for the boarding facility. Darian and Karan co-run Cottonwood stables and both enjoy doing their passion as a business.
Meet our Team
Rayne Guza
Rayne attends Ubly Community Schools and is in dual enrollment for college classes, she also works washing dishes at a restaurant with her twin Sommer and helps work the horses in our program along with providing lessons and helping with our nutrition preparation. Rayne shows at our local 4-H shows and competes on the Ubly Schools Equestrian Team.
Kelsie Saranc
Kelsie is a 26 year old cosmetologist and in her free time shows the Appaloosa circuit competitively and assists with facility needs. She has a four-year-old son who is also starting to take after his mother's in showing!
Karan Guza
Karan works at Standard Electric Company and is the owner of cottonwood stables. She helps with refreshers and manages the stable while providing care for the horses in the facility.
Sommer Guza
Sommer attends Ubly Community Schools and works at a restaurant after school with her twin Rayne. Sommer provides grooming services and assists in our lesson program, and work with refreshers along with nutrition preparation for our horses in our facility.
Our Personal Horses
Windsor
Windsor is a 19-year-old Quarter Horse, he has been shown and rode by Rayne, Kelsie and Darian. Windsor is used in our lesson program and helps with breaking out our young horses.
Hank
Hank is a 21 year old quarter horse. He is ridden by Karan and Darian, he also helps in our lesson program and breaking out our young horses.
Spirit
Spirit is a 15-year-old Haflinger that we use as a first-time pony. Spirit is ridden by Sommer. Spirit is a volunteer in the Handy Cap riders' program at our local fairgrounds.
Goose
(Gooseberry Kurl )
Goose is a Four-year-old bay roan Quarter Horse, he is owned and trained by Darian Gross. Goose is shown in circuit shows, along with local 4-h shows.
